About Devold of Norway
Devold has produced wool clothing for more than 170 years. Its knitwear was worn by Fridtjof Nansen during his 1888 ski crossing of Greenland and later by Roald Amundsen and Lincoln Ellsworth on polar trips. The brand runs its own knitting mill in Lithuania, sources wool from farms in New Zealand, Australia and Patagonia, and holds OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification.
Base layers, tees and the Everyday Crew
The Breeze Merino 150 t-shirt, long-sleeve shirt and zip neck use 100% merino wool at 150 g/m² with a 17.5 micron fibre, designed for next-to-skin wear. The Classic Legacy, Classic Summit and Premium Woodworker tees sit a touch heavier and work as everyday wool tees, alongside the graphic Active Skyline and Active Stamp short sleeves and the retro Archive Ringer. The Everyday Crew is a heavier merino sweatshirt for cooler days.
Jackets, vest and wool socks
The Adventure Jacket is a 270 g/m² waffle-knit merino mid-layer with reinforced shoulders, elbows and a curved back, built for hiking in changeable weather. The Explorer Merino Jacket and Vest are merino fleeces around 210 g/m² with a brushed inner face and a moisture-wicking outer yarn. Wool socks are sized for men and women: the Adventure Merino Medium and Archive Merino work for everyday and walking use, while the thicker Nansen Wool Sock in 80% pure new Norwegian wool is the heritage option for winter.
How to choose
Start with a Breeze Merino 150 t-shirt or shirt for a single warm-weather layer or a base for cool days. Add the Adventure Jacket for active hikes, or the Explorer Jacket or Vest for colder walks. Use the Nansen sock for the coldest days and the Adventure or Archive Merino socks for everyday and three-season wear.
